Traditional style ledge and brace gates are the perfect gate for safety and security. These are the traditional style made for hundreds of years because they do the job well.
These are the strongest, heavy duty gates. Made using traditional joinery techniques they will last a long time. These can be used as doors into a building too.
Sometimes only two will do! We use the best quality timber along with heavy duty hardware as standard. These gates are tough and are designed for plenty of use.

We control EVERY stage of the gate manufacturing. We buy the timber and hardware, and we make the gates from scratch ourselves.
Yes we finally do different colours!
We now offer clear or coloured wood preservative. We apply two coats to the gate and all the frame timbers in the workshop before we fit. This ensures
EVERY part of the timber is coated with wood preservative. And that
TWO coats.
We have been in the joinery business a long time. Following in the footsteps of my dad, I was messing about with wood and making things when I was 9 years old... Fast forward almost 40 years and I am still doing the same!
Originally the company was called The Joinery Guys, but we changed the name to reflect the fact that we only do gates. We became Boss Gates, but to be honest I wasn't really happy with the name. Then in February 2021 my dad sadly passed away. A few months later I broke my leg in a moped accident and so that looked like the end for Boss Gates.
Yeah Right!!
In January 2022 I realised that Boss Gates was a terrible name, but Bobs Gates was far better. The name changed to my dads name and we relaunched the business. That more or less brings us to the present day its still tough going, but we are getting there!
August 2023 we moved to Birkenhead. Better workshop with more space so we can handle the bigger gates easier.
