These are the most common type of gates. You see them everywhere from back yards to country cottages. At Bobs Gates we make ours from Redwood pine. The T&G is double V jointed and is 18mm thick. The rails are glued and screwed onto the T&G for strength and a long life.
Very versatile gates that we can do with curved heads as you see in the pic, for no extra cost.
Cheap gates are made from cheap timber, Christmas trees basically! Cheap spruce thats stapled together. Doesn’t last, and is just poor quality. If you want a gate that will last about three months, go for it!
The smaller companies buy their gates from timber yards and cut them to fit. We make every gate to the size needed, and if we need to we trim to fit. Your gate is made to measure, not off the shelf.
You want it to just work. To open and close and look the part. A nice colour and thats that. Thats what we do, we specialise in gates and so we are experts.
How to get a new gate
- Give us a call, a text, or fill in the contact form
- We arrange to call over at a time and day to suit you
- We measure up, make sure there are no issues with walls etc
- WE DONT TAKE A DEPOSIT
- We make the gate and if you want the enhanced option, we apply two coats of coloured or clear wood preservative
- We make an appointment to come and fit your new gate
- On the day we arrange, we fit the new gate and take the old one away
- Only when you are happy do we arrange payment
